CANYON, Texas — A West Texas A&M University Homecoming event will be revived this year, teeing up opportunities for supporters to raise scholarship funds.

The WT Homecoming Scholarship Classic golf scramble will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 23 at Palo Duro Creek Golf Course, 50 Country Club Drive in Canyon. Check-in and breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Registration is $150 per player or $600 for four. Sponsorships are available from $500 to $7,500. To register, visit wtamu.edu/Homecoming.

Registration deadline is Oct. 16.

Following the scramble, The Lumberyard, 850 N. 23rd St in Canyon, will host a Homecoming alumni social from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy food and a cash bar. Admission is $25.

Funds raised will benefit scholarship endowments of alumni chapters for each of WT’s seven fraternities and sororities, but the scramble is open to all golfers, not just Greek alumni.

“We’re glad that our alumni groups for the fraternities and sororities are working together to improve scholarship opportunities and funds to help current and future student members graduate and succeed,” said Ronnie Hall, executive director of the WT Alumni Association. “We’re also looking forward to the alumni social, which is open to all Buffs and will be an exciting addition to our Homecoming Week activities.”
