CANYON, Texas—The Economics Club at West Texas A&M University will receive a grant of $15,500 for the 2015-2016 academic year. The grant marks the fifth year the Koch Foundation has provided financial support to the organization for a total of approximately $60,000. The grant is used to fund a book club seminar, travel opportunities, research and other program enrichment activities.

"I want to thank the Koch Foundation for their generosity and continued support of the Economics Club at West Texas A&M University," Dr. Neil Meredith, assistant professor of economics, said. "The grant has helped create a strong scholarly community and provided our students with exceptional engagement opportunities."

The Koch grant has facilitated multiple efforts for the Economics Club, which includes trips to the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank and an opportunity to meet Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Vernon Smith. Guest speakers include Terry Anderson, author of the book The Not So Wild, Wild West

The fall 2015 seminar book is Nudge by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein. The Economics Club usually meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month during the lunch hour in the Classroom Center, Room 224. Membership is free and open to all interested students, faculty and staff. For more information, contact Meredith at 806-651-2493 or nmeredith@wtamu.edu.
