CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University’s Department of Management, Marketing and General Business will host a special international business seminar on "Financial Crisis and the Changing Global Business" from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center, Hazel Kelley Wilson Room on campus.

Speakers for the seminar will be Martin G. Anderson, vice president and director for Merrill Lynch in Amarillo; Pat Ware, assistant vice president for Amarillo National Bank; Dr. Jim Owens, professor of finance and head of the WTAMU Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance; and Dr. Syed Tariq Anwar, WTAMU professor of marketing and international business. The four speakers will examine today’s financial crisis, the U.S. Treasury Department’s $700 billion bailout and other market interventions in Western Europe, Asia and Latin America.

"These issues and activities continue to be hot topics among the business world and academics," Anwar, seminar coordinator, said. "The ongoing financial crisis and its global issues are not without controversy and will continue to attract pro and anti-globalization circles."

The seminar is free and open to WTAMU faculty, staff and students as well as the business community. For more information, visit http://wtfaculty.wtamu.edu/%7Esanwar.bus/seminars-NEW.htm or contact Anwar at 806-651-2491.
