Faculty-Led Trips

Nearly every summer, the WTAMU Spanish department leads a trip to a Spanish-speaking country, where you can experience local culture and enjoy the food, while earning six credit hours.

Summer 2025 - Peru
Spanish is the predominant language in Peru, making it an ideal destination for students seeking to improve their language skills through immersion. Peru has rich cultural diversity, historical significance, and linguistic opportunities. It's home to a vast array of cultural and historical sites, including the world-renowned Machu Picchu. Its diverse landscapes, from the Amazon rainforest to the Andes mountains and coastal deserts, offer unique opportunities for ecological and environmental studies. Cities such as Lima or Cusco are well-equipped to host international students, offering a range of accommodations, educational institutions, and support services. Peruvian cuisine is globally recognized for its diversity and flavor. Students can explore the fusion of indigenous ingredients with Spanish, African, Asian, and other influences, providing a unique cultural experience through food.
