Professional Profile
Dr. Roos comes to WTAMU with B.A.s in Fine Arts and Comparative Literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz (Phi Beta Kappa), M.A.s in Art History and Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon. Her research and publications are linked by her focus on 20th- and 21st-century nationalism and gender issues. Dr. Roos has been teaching English at WT since 2005.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Roos typically teaches courses on world masterpieces, postcolonialisms, and transatlantic modernisms. She loves reading and learning about all literatures, great and small.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Roos's research focuses on transatlantic modernisms and postcolonialisms, and she has a particular affinity for the writings of James Joyce. She is co-editor (with Dr. Alex Hunt) of Postcolonial Green: Environmental Politics and World Narratives (U Virginia Press 2010), co-editor (with Dr. Andy Reynolds) of Behind the Masks of Modernism: Global and Transnational Perspectives (U Press Florida, 2016), author of the book Djuna Barnes's Nightwood: The World , and the Politics of Peace (Bloomsbury 2014), and co-author (with Dr. Amy Von Lintel) of Expanding Abstract Expressionism: Women Artists and the American West (Texas A&M Press, 2022). In addition to several book chapters, she has published articles appearing in Comparative Literature, Modernism/Modernity, Irish University Review, Yale Journal of Criticism, Joyce Studies Annual, American Art, Woman's Art Journal, and Research in African Literatures, among others.
