Want to teach cybersecurity to your high school students?

West Texas A&M University is hosting courses for Training-the-Teacher on cybersecurity topics.

Project Perfect

The acronym Project Perfect stands for: Providing Environment and Resources for STEM 9th-12th Graders in Effective Cybersecurity Training.

This cybersecurity training is funded by the Office of Naval Research through a grant. Our mission is to Train-the-Teacher on cybersecurity topics. You will use what you learn in training to teach your high school students. The curriculum is developed by West Texas A&M University.

May 30th and 31st, 2024

(9 a.m. to 3 p.m., each day, 100% online)

Where

Participate in a virtual meeting. Registration is necessary to get the meeting link. Schools need to provide a supporting letter to the research team before the training. Please contact Dr. Hossain ( gahangir.hossain@unt.edu ) or Dr. Shin ( mikyung.shin@wtamu.edu ) for any questions, comments, or concerns about the project.

Our Team

Dr. Gahangir Hossain

Dr. Gahangir Hossain, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Information Science at UNT

Dr. Gahangir Hossain is an associate professor in the College of Information at the University of North Texas (UNT). Earlier he was with the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at West Texas A&M University. He received his master's and the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Memphis, TN in 2014. He also received Applied Psychology (Cognitive Science), and Software Testing certificates from the University of Memphis, Th. He is a trained data science and machine learning instructor (trained from the Georgia Tech, and NVDIA Inc.). He has received awards from Microsoft, the Department of Energy (DoE), and research grants from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Dr. Mikyung Shin

Dr. Mikyung Shin, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Special Education and Bill Piehl Professor of Education

Dr. Shin joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2019. She received a B.A. in Special Education and English Language and Literature from Ewha Woman's University in 2006, an M.A. in Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009, and a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013.

Dr. Guofei Gu

Dr. Guofei Gu, Ph.D.

Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at TAMU

Dr. Gu is a professor and holder of the Eppright Professorship in Engineering in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU). Before coming to Texas A&M, he received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the College of Computing, Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests are in network and systems security. Dr. Gu is currently directing the SUCCESS Lab. Dr. Gu is also a recipient of 2010 NSF CAREER Award, 2013 AFOSR Young Investigator Award, 2010 IEEE S&P Best Student Paper Award, 2015 ICDCS Best Paper Award, Texas A&M Dean of Engineering Excellence Award, Presidential Impact Fellow, Charles H. Barclay Jr. ‘45 Faculty Fellow, and Google Faculty Research Award.
