Professional Profile

Dr. Hieb joined the faculty of West Texas A&M University’s School of Music in 2016. She completed a Ph.D. in musicology at the University of British Columbia in 2015 and holds a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her research has been supported by the Austrian Exchange Agency, a Eugene K. Wolf travel grant from the American Musicological Society, and a Fulbright Research Fellowship to Austria. She has presented her research, which takes up questions of genre and religious and political representation in early modern music, at conferences both nationally and internationally.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Hieb teaches the undergraduate music history survey and literature survey courses at WT in addition to the research methods course and topical seminars for graduate students. She currently serves as assistant editor for the Web Library of Seventeenth-Century Music and as copy editor for the Journal of Seventeenth-Century Music.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Hieb’s research interests include music of the early modern era, genre studies, and music history pedagogy. She is currently working on an edition of Ver sacrum seu flores (Salzburg, 1677), a collection of pieces for the offertory by Andreas Hofer, Heinrich Biber’s predecessor at the court of Salzburg in the seventeenth century.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Hieb loves reading, her pup, and her family. She is married to a pilot and enjoys flying around in their Beechcraft Bonanza.
