Favorite Things about the Engler College of Business: The Engler College of Business has an incredible community of professors and students who are passionate about helping each other succeed. The real-world business experiences and internships available make it stand out, along with its focus on developing leadership skills and entrepreneurial thinking.
Why I Chose WT: I chose West Texas A&M University because of its strong business program and the personalized attention you get from professors. The smaller class sizes allow for more meaningful interactions, and WT’s commitment to creating a supportive and collaborative environment was something that really attracted me.
Advice to Prospective Students: Get involved as much as you can, both in and out of the classroom. The connections you make and the experiences you gain will be invaluable. Don’t be afraid to take on challenges and seek out opportunities that push you to grow. Make sure to build relationships with your professors—they genuinely care about your success.
Involvement: Roger’s LEAD WT, Delta Zeta Sorority

Luis Martinez - Senior
Hometown: Pampa, TX
Majors: General Business with a Specialization in International Business and Finance
Minor: Accounting
Email: lamartinez8@buffs.wtamu.edu
Favorite Things about the Engler College of Business: The close relational bonds with faculty and peers. I have been able to grow professionally and personally just by being able to meet people on a deeper level in and outside of the classroom walls.
Why I Chose WT: The centered traditional values that aligned with mine and proximity to my family as a first-generation college student. I also chose WT because the University gave me the ability to transfer my skills on a medium size scale and gain recognition as well.
Advice to Prospective Students: Get involved. The only way I became an Engler Ambassador was through previous involvements with other COB orgs and non-related orgs. By putting yourself out there and giving input at the table you will be known and eventually reap success.
Involvement: McNair Scholars, Mortarboard Scholars, and the Attebury Honors program. I also work in the COB Dean’s Office.

Maylee Wertz - Junior
Hometown: Balko, OK
Major: Marketing
Minor: Finance
Email: mmwertz1@buffs.wtamu.edu
Why I Chose WT: It's close to home and affordable, while still offering the community and opportunities I was looking for in a college experience. As a marketing major in the College of Business, it was important for me to be near a place with job opportunities. Amarillo's proximity allows me to connect with the local market and build my professional network.
Advice to Prospective Students: Use your time wisely. College goes by so fast and you pay a lot of money to be here, so it is important to make the most of it. It can be challenging to meet people beyond your specific college, so try to get involved in a student organization early on. These organizations not only help create friendships but also offer valuable networking opportunities and chances to engage with the local community.
Involvement: Public Relation Chair for Student Government
