"I've had an awesome personal experience at WT thanks to my peers, instructors, and mentors. As a transfer student, WT provided the most welcoming and smooth transition into my new role. The environment is one that motivates, engages, and most importantly, encourages students to pursue their goals outside of campus. WT gave me access to resources that opened new doors for growth. These included Career Services, networking opportunities, and access to development events. Because of my time at WT, I have developed the necessary skills to take on new challenges with confidence, and to pursue both my academic and professional goals relentlessly."

"Being a first-generation student at 49, and a graduate this December, has given me something that I will always cherish. I truly feel I can do anything I set my mind to these days.

It’s never too late to get a degree, after all learning should be a lifelong process. With knowledge comes responsibility, and for the role I have in life I want to be able to share that knowledge and help others grow. I hope each of you that took a leap of faith to be the first in your family to get a degree that starts a chain reaction for generations to come. God Bless WT!"

"I come from a small town, Bovina, Texas, and graduated in 1998. As I attended high school I was never encouraged by my parents or teachers to go to college. I was told how important it was to attend, but never took the steps that were required to make that step to attend college or even plan during my high school years.

I have twenty years of work experience in clerical, healthcare, and human resources. As years passed in those career fields, I was unable to advance in job opportunities because I did not have a college degree. I am proud to be a First Gen student because I have children and want to be an example for them. It is not an easy process, but I not only showed them how important it is but helped them prepare for college along the way."
