Professional Profile

Dr. Drumheller joined the Department of Communication in 2006 and served as director of graduate studies in communication from 2007-2014. She is the interim department head for history. She received a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a M.A. in communication from Texas State University and a B.A. in public relations from Texas Tech University.

Research and Creative Activity

Organizational crisis communication, media effects, and leadership have been at the forefront of Dr. Drumheller’s research. She has numerous conference presentations and has been published in Communication Studies, Public Relations Inquiry, Public Relations Review, International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Journal of Communication & Religion, College Teaching, and several marketing journals. She also has published a chapter in Case Studies in Nonprofit and Volunteer Contexts, Public Relations Series: Public Relations Theory and Practice in the Nonprofit Sector, The Rhetoric of Pope John Paul II, and has written a business and professional speaking workbook. Dr. Drumheller also engages in outside consulting, assisting with mock juries and grant evaluations.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Drumheller's undergraduate courses include Organizational Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Research Methods. At the graduate level, she teaches Organizational Communication, Training & Development, Leadership, and Introduction to Graduate Studies.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Drumheller lives with her husband, Matthew and her amazing daughter, Mabel. She also lives with a dog and cat which have the run of the house. She is an avid reader and has a "silent" piano which she hopes to actually play one day. She likes tennis and golfing, though not very good at either sport.
