Statement

WTAMU shall ensure that any confidential data being transmitted over a public network is protected from disclosure to or modification by unauthorized parties.

Applicability

This Control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.

Implementation

In the event that confidential data must be transmitted over a public network (such as the Internet) to third parties outside the University IT will ensure that the data is being transmitted via encrypted channels with a minimum of a 128-bit encryption algorithm.
