Statement

To protect the perimeter of the University network, IT personnel will deploy various security controls to proactively monitor for denial of service attempts so that timely action can be taken to maintain network and system availability.

Applicability

This Control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.

Implementation

WTAMU has implemented preimeter protections (e.g. DMZ, firewall, intrusion detection or prevention system, or router) and incorporates monitoring for denial-of-service attacks, configuration settings at the network layer to combat such attacks, and maintaining logs of all network activity.
