PM-2 Senior Information Security Officer

Statement

WTAMU will appoint a senior information security officer with the mission and resources to coordinate, develop, implement, and maintain an organization-wide information security program.

Applicability

This Control applies to all West Texas A&M network information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources

Implementation

The University President or the Chief Information Officer, who services as the President’s designated representative, shall designate an information security officer to administer the University’s information security program. The Information Officer is charged with the responsibilites enumerated in Section 2054.136, Government Code and 1 Texas Administrative Code 202.71. The ISO is responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s information security program; the development of information security policies and procedures; is responsible for and has authority to monitor compliance with the University’s information security policies and procedures; and has appropriate level of accessibility and visibility from executive leadership of the University to be effective.
