Statement
West Texas A&M University will maintain an alternate storage site for storage of information resource backups that should not be subject to the same impact from a disaster as the primary University site.
Applicability
This Control applies to all West Texas A&M information resources. The intended audience for this Control includes all information resource owners, custodians, and users of information resources.
Implementation
- Mission Critical information shall be backed up on a scheduled consistant with recovery point objectives.
- Backups shall be stored in a manner that provides both logical and physical seperated from the production enviroment. Backups shall only be accessible by authorized individuals.
- An alternate storage site has been established at the Harrington Academic Hall in Amarillo. This site provides appropriate geographical separation as to reduce the susceptibility to the same disruptive event.
- This site shall be equipped with the same environmental monitoring and physical controls as the University data center.
- IT site shall maintain appropriate server hardware and telecommunications connectivity to allow this site to facilitate timely and effective recovery operations.
