Advising Services Mission

Mission Statement

The mission of Advising Services at West Texas A&M University is to provide consistent and holistic academic advising to current and prospective students as well as resources and planning tools for students and faculty. This approach to academic advising supports students’ transition to the University and integration into their academic departments and colleges by:
  • fostering relationships, personal growth, responsibility, and out-of-class involvement
  • assisting with the development and implementation of educational plans consistent to the students’ academic, career, and personal goals
  • providing accurate information regarding policies, procedures, and resources
In support of WTAMU’s mission, Advising Services operates under a student-centered centralized model of advising under which a team of professional full-time academic advisers and part-time faculty advisers are housed in one location, the Student Success Center.

The Advising Services unit at West Texas A&M University aspires to lead the development of consistent, accurate, and efficient academic advising practices that focus on promoting student’s academic progress. Advising Services will continue to adapt to the student population changes and delivery preferences while creating a supportive work environment for its staff.
