Virgil Henson Activities Center

Virgil Henson Activities Center

Built in 1970, the Virgil Henson Activities Center has recently undergone renovations. The "AC" is a haven for the young and old alike with features for students, faculty and staff, families and community members. With membership, you gain access to the center’s many features:

The general public is welcome to use the Virgil Henson Activities Center by purchasing a daily pass at the VHAC Member Services Desk.  ALL adult guests (16 years or older) MUST have a government issued picture ID in order to use the recreational facilities. ALL guests are required to sign in at the time of purchase at the VHAC Member Services Desk. The charge for the guest pass is $5 per person. Guest passes are good for the day they are issued only and are non-transferable. All guests are subject to the same VHAC policies as our members. Please refer to our Policies and Procedures section in full details.

Guest passes allow the holder to full access to the Virgil Henson Activities Center. Bowling, Game Room and Racquetball rentals are an additional charge.

Recreational Pool — Bring the kids for a day at the recreation pool equipped with a water slide, lazy river and vortex pool.

Weight Room — A 9,000 square foot facility enclosed in glass with workout equipment and men’s and women’s locker rooms keeps the whole family in shape.

Bowling Lanes — Make it a date night or game night with buddies in the eight-lane bowling alley, complete with automatic scoring system and the option for lunar bowling.

Climbing Tower — Climbers can give the 40 foot tall climbing tower fashioned after the Light House structure in Palo Duro Canyon a try. The tower has paths for amateurs and experts, so everyone with an adventurous spirit can give it a try.

All Purpose Room — Runners and walkers will cover lots of ground on the suspended track while enjoying the benefits of being indoors and away from the elements. Basketball teams form quickly, but no need to worry, four regulation-size courts can accommodate up to eight pick-up teams.

The Activities Center accommodates racquetball/handball courts, a game room, a TV lounge and several all-purpose rooms. It’s also home to Kids Kollege, the University’s child care center, as well as Student Medical Services.
