Professional Profile

Valerie Parker joined the Speech and Hearing Science center in January of 2024. She received her B.A. in Communication Disorders degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 1993 and her M.S. in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1995. She currently holds the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) as well as her Texas State licensure. She has worked in a variety of medical settings including a traumatic brain injury and spinal cord rehabilitation facility in Lincoln NE before moving to Amarillo to work for Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital in 1998. She has worked in acute care, inpatient, outpatient and home health settings for multiple hospitals in Amarillo. She is trained in MBSS and FEES for dysphagia and is Vital Stim certified.

Teaching and Related Service

Mrs. Parker currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate classes in Voice, Dysphagia and acquired communication disorders. She also provides clinical instruction for graduate students in the WTAMU Speech and Hearing Clinic.
