My
professional life:
I earned a Bachelor
of Fine Arts in Theatrical Performance from Auburn University,
an MA in English from the University of Georgia, and a Ph.D.
in English from the University of Georgia. In between
my undergraduate and graduate school years, I spent some time
trying out different occupations--acting,
advertising, retail,
teaching high school---and different residences---New
York City; Buffalo; Stamford, Connecticut; Long Island.
I have been at WT since 2006, and I've been teaching since
1995, both as a high school English and Drama teacher and
as a university teacher.
My
personal life: My husband David Hart teaches Philosophy
here at WT and directs the University Writing Center. We met
in graduate school on the first day of class; it's a wonderfully
romantic story that I inevitably share with all of my students.
Those who dislike sentiment and romantic stories find this
moment challenging, I'm sure, and I am always grateful that
they indulge me.
We
have one child, a little boy named Jeremy:

Our
other child is of the four-legged variety: Chief, a German
Shepherd who is fifteen years old:

I
am an enthusiastic amateur photographer, a really good cook,
and a devoted follower of reality TV shows on Bravo, Project
Runway and Top Chef being my two favorites.
