Panhandle Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE) Program The Panhandle Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE) program is an alternative teacher certification program for individuals who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree and who now seek to make a career transition into the teaching profession. The program, which spans 16-18 months (calendar), begins with an intensive spring and summer of teacher training (class schedule) after which the PACE “intern” can be employed as a teacher-of-record in a Texas school district and ultimately culminates in Texas teacher certification. Through the PACE program, candidates may pursue certification at one of the following levels: - Elementary: early childhood through grade 4 (generalist EC-4)
- Bilingual Elementary: early childhood through grade 4 (bilingual generalist EC-4)
- Middle School: grades 4-8 (subject areas)
- High School: grades 8-12 (subject areas)
- All-level: early childhood through grade 12 (subject areas or special education)
The PACE program is organized into three phases: - Phase One - Application/Admission
