The January Orientation is for new freshmen starting WT in Spring 2027.

Registration will open on September 18, 2026.

Family/Guest Sessions

We will have optional family/guest orientation sessions available at every orientation.  These sessions will be separate from the student sessions. There will be Spanish print materials and Spanish-speaking staff available at all family sessions.

There’s no wrong choice! Both New Student Programs are designed to help you prepare for your first semester, access the resources you need, and begin building your future at WT. Choose the format that best fits your preferences, needs, and schedule.

As you explore your options, consider these questions:

• How do I want to experience orientation? Would I enjoy spreading the experience across two days, or would I prefer to complete my orientation activities in one day?

• How do I prefer to connect with campus? Would I like dedicated time during orientation to explore campus resources, meet other students, and discover ways to get involved?

• What helps me feel prepared for college? Do I prefer time to explore, ask questions, and learn about campus life, or do I feel comfortable gathering essential information and exploring additional resources later?

• How would I like to plan my involvement at WT? Would I prefer to begin exploring engagement opportunities during orientation or develop a personalized plan through Connect Coaching for ways to connect later on?

• What works best for my schedule? Which option fits my availability and my family's plans?

No matter which New Student Program you choose, you’ll get the essential information and support you need to begin your journey as a Buff, including academic advising, class registration, required information, and guidance from WT faculty and staff who care about your success.

You will be required to login with you WT username and password to register for any of the program options. If you do not know your login information, please follow the steps listed below. 

• Student usernames are comprised of your first and last initial and your Buffalo Gold Card (ID) number.  If you do not know your ID number please contact the Admissions for assistance.
• New students can activate their account by going to Account Activation Page.
• Students can reset their passwords by going to the WT password reset page.  For further assistance contact the Help Desk at (806)651-4357 to have their accounts reset.

Required Steps before NSO:

• Complete the Orientation Pre-Module. 
• Turn in all Transcripts to Admissions
  • If you took Dual Credit classes, we also need the transcript for the college or university where you receieved the credit.
• Take the TSI or confirm your exemption

Recommended Steps before NSO:

• Apply for Financial Aid
• Make a selection about Guaranteed Tuition
• Apply for Scholarships
• Apply for Housing, or file an exemption with Residential Living
• Be checking your WT email for official university communication
• Be on the lookout for incoming emails and texts from your Orientation staff and Peer Leaders!
  • Peer Leaders will be able to help you with anything you will need before, during and after your orientation.
