SYLLABUS FOR MUS 252 - Sections 02 and 03

Goals:

to provide the student with continued knowledge of the jazz idiom
to provide the student with an opportunity to further develop performing skills
to provide students with a direct example of jazz teaching methods
to perform at concerts and clinics

Course Calendar:

October 24th^th Feature Concert - Carmen Rodriguez, Guest Artist Ensemble I

Fall Concert November 21^st Dress Rehearsals and Concert at NRH Ensembles I and II

Performance schedule is subject to change.

Attendance: Perfect attendance and professional attitude are assumed. If you must miss class because of illness, please call my office prior to class time and leave a message.

Grades: Your grade will be divided into three parts. 50% of your grade will come from your attendance and active participation during our weekly rehearsals and sectionals, 10% will come from preparedness for rehearsal (woodshed problem spots), and the other 40% will come from required activities and performances. All performances are mandatory, including dress rehearsals. If you miss a required performance without an excused absence, you will not receive a passing grade for this course.
