Prerequisites: Bachelor's degree, curiosity

Course Goals: This course will explore the fundamentals of discourse analysis.  We will examine methodological approaches to discourse analysis, definitions of discourse, minimal units of discourse, and likely anything that emerges along the way.

Course Objectives:

Course Method: The primary assignment for this course will be for each student to prepare and deliver one class period's instruction based on chapters in our text, and then to design practical or methodological exercises for the following day.  Fortuitously, our class has one-to-one student/chapter correspondence.

Johnstone, Barbara.  Discourse Analysis.  Oxford: Blackwell, 2002.
