Prerequisites: English 101 and 102 or equivalent, self-discipline

Course Goals: This course seeks to familiarize students with selected masterworks of Western literature and the philosophical principles they reflect.

Course Objectives:

Course Method: The best method for this class will be discussion.

Course Projects: Examinations--format to be determined.

Textbook: Wilkie & Hurt, eds. Literature of the Western World: The Ancient World through the Renaissance.  Vol. I  5th ed. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall, 2001.
