We understand life can be unpredictable. Unexpected costs and needs can cause significant stress and impact on your academic success and personal well-being. That’s why West Texas A&M University has a variety of programs and services available to support currently enrolled students.
WT assists students who are experiencing unexpected financial hardships that may disrupt their education or prevent them from earning their degree in a variety of ways, including:
- Emergency medical/dental costs
- Housing and living expenses
- Family emergencies
- Food Insecurity
- Loss of income
- And more…
Support may come in a variety of forms, including grants, loans and/or campus and community resources.

Opportunity Grant Program for WT Students
We understand that this continues to be a difficult and uncertain time for our WT community. We are here to help and want to remind you of the Opportunity Grant Program, a financial assistance program available to students.
Please review the criteria for this grant and submit an application if you have been impacted and think you may qualify.
Criteria:
- Must be a Texas resident and an undergraduate student
- Must have a FAFSA on file with an income between $40,000 and $100,000 (Email contact below will verify). This grant is designed to aid students who are not Pell eligible, hence the income threshold.
- Must be a first-time degree seeker in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or better
- Must have an unforeseen change in financial circumstances that impact your ability to pay your bill.
Grants can be given for up to the full cost of attendance for a semester and are renewable. Grants can also be awarded for summer terms.
A simple one-page application can be filled out quickly. Applications are reviewed once received and a response is generated as quickly as possible.
