English as a Second Language International

ESLI - Academic English Pathway Program

The English as a Second Language International (ESLI) center located on the campus of  West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) provides an entry pathway for international students without a TOEFL OR IELTS.  Designed to ensure success, students develop the university language skills they need to succeed.  ESLI admits students with beginner through advanced language skills.  Students are fully integrated into the academic, social and cultural life of the university.

ESLI provides 2 options -

ESLI "English Only"  - Students may choose this intensive, on campus program if they want to develop their English skills and experience student life on a university campus.  This option does not allow for university admission.

ESLI Conditional Admission Studies - Students may choose this option if they want to study a degree program at WTAMU.  Students are invited to apply to the university for a degree program with no TOEFL or IELTS.  Conditional admission students receive an I-20 for language training and a letter of admission to the university for the visa interview.  Upon completion of the ESL program, a transfer I-20 for entry into the degree program will be issued by the university.  Students who successfully complete ESL are not required to submit a TOEFL. Please note:  students may not begin academic studies until they have completed ESLI.
