Fall 2020 to Spring 2021 RA Positions

Information Sessions

Not exactly sure what a Resident Assistant does? Still have questions before you decide to apply? Information Sessions will give you a clear picture of the Resident Assistant position and an opportunity to meet Residential Living's student and professional staff. While not required, attending an info session is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all RA applicants.

All Information Sessions will be at the following times and locations:

  • January 22 (Wednesday): JBK Senate Chamber (lower level), 8 p.m.
  • January 29 (Wednesday): JBK Senate Chamber (lower level), 8 p.m.

Interview Preparation Sessions

How can you prepare for the RA Interviews?  Interview Prep Sessions will provide an understanding of what the process looks like, ideas about how to prepare, and what you can expect during RA Interviews. While not required, attending one of the prep sessions is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all RA applicants.

  • February 5 (Wednesday): JBK Thunder Room (lower level), 12:15 p.m.
  • February 12 (Wednesday): JBK Thunder Room (lower level), 12:15 p.m. (Canceled due to weather)
  • February 19 (Wednesday): JBK Thunder Room (lower level), 12:15 p.m.

Selection Process Timeline

Applicants must be able to attend ALL parts of the interview process in order to be considered for a Resident Assistant position.  We offer a limited number of interview spots. Once all interview availability has been filled, we will maintain a list of applicants. If new spots open up, you will be contacted with an offer for an interview.

Only qualified candidates will participate in the interview process - the group interview process and the individual interview process. Candidates will be contacted via WTAMU email regarding interview times and locations.

*NOTE: Not all candidates will receive an interview in the group interview or individual interview processes.

Feb. 5 & 12 Interview Prep Sessions
Feb. 7 RA Applications due by 4:59 p.m. in the Residential Living Office
Feb. 28 & 29 Qualified applicants will attend the required  Interview Process in the Alumni Banquet Hall
March 17 Offer letters sent to candidates via email (stating either offer with placement, or no offer)

Selected candidates must submit their Accept/Decline Offer by 4:59 p.m.

Application Materials & Instructions

Applicants must have all application materials submitted before February 7, 2019 at 4:59pm to be considered. Please follow the steps below to ensure a successful submission:
  1. Read and review the Resident Assistant Job Description
  2. Go to the Career Services website and complete the Handshake Application (Job ID: 3393071; Resident Assistant Academic Year 2020-2021); if you experience issues with the application or are unsure if it was submitted correctly, contact Career Services directly.
  3. Contact two Residential Living references: 1) Your current Resident Assistant; 2) One additional Residential Living staff member (another RA, a Residence Hall Director, or an Area Coordinator).
