WT Student to Participate in National Ag Day in DC

CANYON, Texas--Anika Parks, a senior agricultural media and communication major at West Texas A&M University, will be attending National Ag Day in Washington D.C. from March 12-14 as a representative of National 4-H. With the support of Bayer, 10 representatives were selected to attend National Ag Day on behalf of 4-H on Capitol Hill.

Students from around the nation will represent various agricultural organizations including FFA, AFA and Student NAMA to learn more about the roles of agriculture while celebrating the contributions of our country’s farms. While in D.C., the representatives will have the opportunity to discuss agriculture and its importance with industry leaders and members of Congress, putting a face on agriculture with our elected officials. The support from Bayer will give the 4-H representatives an extra day of training covering agricultural policy, trade regulation and an embassy visit.

Parks is an Agricultural Ambassador at WT, the secretary for the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow organization, and she will be graduating this upcoming May. She has been involved in 4-H since she was seven years old, and was the intern at the Randall County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in the spring of 2018.
