CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second straight year, West Texas A&M Athletics finished third in the NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Director’s Cup Standings announced on Wednesday morning by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

WT recorded 730.75 total points to finish first among schools from the Lone Star Conference and second among schools sponsoring football. They are one of four schools from the South Central Region ranked in the Top 15, joined by Colorado School of Mines (6th, 644), Colorado Mesa (7th, 641.50) and Adams State (10th, 568.25). Grand Valley State won the cup for the 13th time in 24 years with 1,004 points.

During the spring season, WT earned points in baseball (25), women’s golf (66.75), softball (38), women’s outdoor track & field (80) and men’s track & field (66). They earned 206 points in the fall and 249.50 points during the winter.

WT’s third-place finish is its highest since a second-place finish in 2013-14 as they finished in the Top 10 for the fifth time in the past six years. They have also finished as the highest ranked school in Texas for the seventh straight year.

The Learfield IMG College Director’s Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships.
