Panhandle PBS and PPHM Present: NOVA's Secret Tunnel Warfare
Date: 2/9/17 - 2/9/17
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Location: Panhandle Plains Historical Museum

During WWI in 1916 and 1917, Allied engineers devised surprise attacks of explosives hidden in secret tunnels driven under German lines. “Secret Tunnel Warfare,” provided by Panhandle PBS, opens a unique window on the frenzy of Allied mining activity that led up to these attacks and the aftermath.

Coinciding with “The Great War” exhibitions, that opened January 27th, PPHM and Panhandle PBS are hosting a free screening of “Secret Tunnel Warfare” in the Hazelwood Lecture Hall at PPHM Thursday, February 9th at 6pm. A roundtable discussion will follow the one-hour film.

The moderator will be Byron Pearson, a History Professor. Participants include Veronica Arias, PPHM Curator of Archaeology, Ken Leitch, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering, Joe D. Rogers, Archaeologist/Historian/Purveyor of the Obscure, and Ben Richardson, Explosives Specialist at Pantex.
