President's Experiential Learning Fellowship

WT is commited to student success and guiding students towards experiences that will help them be more marketable once they graduate. Through the President's Experiential Learning Fellowship opportunity, graduating high school seniors in the top 10-20% of their class, will get the opportunity to create an experiential learning project that will benefit their home community. Principals from the top 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle are invited to nominate outstanding graduating seniors. Selected students can receive up to $2,500 in funding.

This fellowship will be different in several ways:

  1. Selected students will be tasked with carrying out a project in thier home communities. These projects should benefit the community in a substancial way. Some of the awarded funding can be used to help support the project.
  2. Tuition will become available to the students in the 2nd and 3rd year. Right out of high school, students are often met with various scholarships that run out later in their education, causing them to take less hours or even stop attending. With this felllowship, students can choose to use these funds later, when they need it.
  3. Students who participate in his program will have a tangible example that they can utilize on their resumes. Students will be able to show that they have seen a project from inception, budgeting, presentations, through completion.
  4. Preference will be given to students who identify as a first-generation student. This is not a requirement, only a preference.
