Current or Former WT Students

• To apply for Graduate School, you will need to register for the WTAMU Applicant Portal. Students already registered on the WTAMU Applicant Portal can start a new application under the Application History section.
• Note: Your credentials to access the Applicant Portal are not the same as the login and password you use for Buff Advisor.

Returning WT Graduate Students

• Graduate students with an academic break of one year or less may be eligible to complete the Re-Entry form for expedited readmission to the same program. Students pursuing graduate studies can only use this form if they plan to return to their previous graduate program within the specified period. Students who do not meet these criteria must submit a new application.
  • For students who must submit a new application, that process may be simplified if existing documentation is still on file. Please contact the Graduate School for questions regarding your readmission.

International Students

• International applicants should apply to Graduate School through the Office of Admissions - International.

After you have submitted your graduate school application, you will receive an acknowledgement email with your Buffalo Gold Card Number. This number will serve as your student identification number. You will receive both email and letter correspondence detailing any missing documentation required to complete your application.

Applications for graduate admissions require a non-refundable application fee ($55).

Applications for International admissions require a non-refundable application fee ($90)

• Application Fee Waivers: Please be aware application fee waivers are only provided for domestic graduate students in limited situations. Please visit our Financial Information page, for more information on these opportunities.

Graduate School requires submission of the following official transcripts

• Undergraduate Coursework: Undergraduate coursework showing an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Transcripts from community colleges or related to high school dual credit are not required
• Graduate Coursework (if applicable): Submit transcripts of any graduate-level coursework.
  • Non-degree seeking transcripts are not needed unless applicable to the applicant’s program of study

*Individual programs may have additional transcript requirements due to leveling requirements, including: GPA and accreditation requirements. Financial Aid may also request additional transcripts as needed for federal funding requirements. For questions or clarification, contact Graduate School.

Current/Former WTAMU Students

• Currently enrolled or former WTAMU students do not need to request their WTAMU transcript.
  

Submission Methods

• Electronic transcripts must be sent through a secured, third-party service directly to WT Graduate School or West Texas A&M University Admissions from the issuing institution (excludes foreign transcripts). WT Graduate School cannot accept electronic transcripts directly from an applicant.
• Printed transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to WT Graduate School or delivered in the original sealed envelope. Unopened documents may be forwarded by mail to Graduate School, WTAMU Box 60215, Canyon, TX 79016.
• For transcripts outside of the United States, an official Foreign Credential Evaluation Report must accompany each international transcript or mark sheet. Applicants must select one of the university-approved agencies listed on the Foreign Credential Evaluation Services page. Official reports must be sent to WT Graduate School directly from the evaluation agency through a secure, electronic method or in a sealed envelope through physical mail.

Coursework in Progress:

• Students currently pursuing coursework can send an unofficial transcript to graduateschool@wtamu.edu for review purposes only. An official transcript must be requested once all coursework is finalized and/or the degree is notated. Full admission cannot be granted until the Graduate School receives all official, finalized transcripts.

Submit any remaining documents specified by your graduate program to complete your admissions package.

Find all required items and deadlines for each program on the Program Admissions Requirements webpage. If applicable, the GMAT/GRE school code is 6938.

After you have submitted all of your admissions documents, we will send your application to the program for review. Please await your admissions decision, but feel free to check the status of your application by visiting the Returning User Login page.

• Most programs review you submitted applications in about three weeks, but this can vary.
• Programs with special deadlines may not start reviews until after those posted deadlines.

1. Activate Your Student Account: Once admitted, allow up to 24 hours for your WT account to be created. Then, activate your account to receive your username and password. This needs to be done as soon as possible. For issues, contact IT.
   
   
2. Request Course Advisement and Greenlighting: After activating your account, contact your graduate program advisor for registration assistance. All new and returning graduate students must be “greenlighted” (approved for registration) before they can proceed with online registration.
   • Second bachelor’s students will need to contact your specific department for greenlighting.
   • Non-degree seeking students will need to contact the Graduate School for greenlighting.
     
     
3. Register for Courses: Once you’ve been advised and greenlighted, you should be able to register through Buff Advisor. 
   • Common Issue to Avoid: To complete the registration process, you must click the blue “Register Now” button in the upper-right corner of the Plan and Schedule screen. Your scheduled courses will update from “Planned” to “Registered."
   • Waitlisted: If you are waitlisted because a course is full, check your Buff email regularly. You will receive an email if a spot because available. Register by the provided deadline or you will be dropped from the waitlist.
