Professional Profile

Mrs. Waight joined the faculty in the Department of Nursing at West Texas AM University in 1992. She received two degrees from WTAMU, a B.S.N. in 1979 and an M.S.N. in nursing education in 1993.

Teaching and Related Service

Mrs. Waight currently teaches Adult Health II and Medical Terminology. During her years at WTAMU, she has also taught Nursing Skills, Pathophysiology, Nursing Concepts and Competencies, Adult Health I, Pharmacotherapeutics Applied to Pathophysiology, Health of Women and Children clinical, Special Clinical Topics in Nursing, and Clinical Nursing Internship for Professional Nursing Practice.

Mrs. Waight is a member of Sigma, the international honor society of nursing, and is past-president of the WTAMU Delta Delta Chapter.

Research and Creative Activity

Mrs. Waight writes science fiction and romance short stories.

Personal Sketch

Mrs. Waight lives in Canyon with her husband Tommy. They have several indoor and outdoor cats. Mrs. Waight is a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church in Canyon. She likes to cook and is an enthusiastic contributor to the church’s semiannual pie auction. She enjoys going to fine arts events, including the Amarillo Opera, the Lone Star Ballet, and WTAMU plays, musicals, and concerts. Mrs. Waight is a voracious reader of fiction, and attends annual syfy conventions.
