Dr. Takacs has been the principal trumpet of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra since 2002, performing as a soloist with them twice, on Edward Gregson’s Trumpet Concerto in 2006, and Aaron Copland’s Quiet City in 2010. He also serves as principal trumpet of Amarillo Opera and Chamber Music Amarillo, and frequently performs in the pit orchestra of the Amarillo Little Theatre. He is also a member of the WTAMU Faculty Brass Quintet.
Dr. Takacs serves as a new music and book reviewer for the International Trumpet Guild Journal and as a judge for the National Trumpet Competition. He is a performing artist for Bach Trumpets, a division of the Conn-Selmer Instrument Company.
