Professional Profile

Dr. Brooks joined the College of Fine Arts and Humanities in 2016. She received a B.S. in Mass Communication from West Texas A&M University in 2000, an M.A. in Communication Systems Management from Angelo State University in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Media and Communication from Texas Tech University in 2015.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Brooks teaches advertising courses for the Department of Communication. She is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Advertising Division. She is also a member of the Amarillo American Advertising Federation. Dr. Brooks also serves as the advisor for WT Buffalo Advertising and co-advisor for WT Ad/PR Society.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Brooks’ research interests include the representation of marginalized groups in the media, with a specific focus on the aging population.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Brooks spends her free time with her family and enjoys keeping up with the latest in pop culture and trying new restaurants. She is excited to be back at WTAMU where she started her academic career as an undergraduate.
