Professional Profile

Dr. Kwan joined the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work in 2017. She received her B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Bemidji State University in 2006 and 2009, respectively, and a Ph.D. in Psychological Clinical Science from North Dakota State University in 2017.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Kwan teaches courses pertaining to psychopathology, mental health, and assessment, including Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Counseling, and Assessment I.

She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, Academy for Eating Disorders, and Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. She also serves as a reviewer for a number of academic research journals.

Research and Creative Activity 

Dr. Kwan’s research interests include eating disorders and suicidal behaviors. Her current focus includes the examination of interpersonal functioning and as it pertains to eating disorders and suicidal behaviors. She is also interested in various culturally-relevant factors (e.g., acculturative stress) in these clinical phenomena.
