Professional Profile

Dr. Amy Clifton joined the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences in 2019 after serving over 20 years in public education. Her public education experience includes elementary teaching, secondary teaching and coaching, as well as campus administration experience where she served as an assistant principal and principal. Post-secondary studies began with an A.S. degree from Frank Phillips College in 1995 and continued to West Texas A&M University for her next three degrees, a B.S. in Kinesiology in 1998, an M.Ed. in Administration in 2010 and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership in 2021.  

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Clifton serves as the Director of the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification Program at West Texas A&M University. Teaching both undergraduate and graduate coursework fuels her passion to prepare future teachers and leaders in public education. Founding sponsor of the West Texas A&M University collegiate Texas Association for Future Educators (TAFE) chapter ensures the pipeline for future teachers begins in high school.  

Research and Creative Activity 

Research interests include teacher preparation, data analysis for continual improvement, and quality feedback in leadership.
