Online Ed.D. in Educational Leadership

Fast-Track Your Path to Educational Leadership Roles

The online Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership at West Texas A&M University supports leaders of education in pursuing excellence and making a powerful and lasting impact in their communities. This is a cohort-designed program that features two pathways and is designed for completion within three years.

Pathways

  • Educational Leadership Pathway:
    Equips educational leaders with a wide variety of tools to lead rural schools and to teach educational leadership within a university setting. Superintendent courses are included in this option.
  • Educational Business and Finance Pathway:
    Prepares educators for financial leadership roles in primary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions. Gain expertise in educational finance, legal and fiscal structures, and business affairs.
  • Leadership in Higher Education Pathway:
    Designed for individuals who may have a master's degree in areas other than educational leadership, this pathway prepares individuals for leadership positions within higher education and educational organizations.

Program Highlights

  • Courses are available 100% online. Please Note: An annual immersion experience in either Canyon or Amarillo may be required.
  • A master’s degree is required
  • A minimum of 3.25 GPA in graduate courses is required
  • No GRE required for admission
  • 60 hours of coursework that includes an interdisciplinary curriculum, an emphasis on action research and research design, the opportunity for a high impact experiential residency, and an endowed scholars program
  • Candidates who qualify can transfer in 12 hours of transfer credit and / or competency credits

Upon successful completion of the Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) graduates will be prepared to:

  • Engage in diverse, scholarly activities to evaluate current educational organizations, to inform decision-making and to provide new directions for organizational improvement.
  • Synthesize theory, research, and best practices from local, state, regional, national, and international perspectives to create innovative solutions to meet specific challenges in rural areas
