Professional Profile
Dr. Pipkin received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M University, and completed his doctoral studies at Texas Tech University. A professional animal scientist, Dr. Pipkin also is a licensed judge with the American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, National Snaffle Bit Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association and World Conformation Horse Association. As such, he has officiated more than 400 horse events, including the AQHA and APHA World Champion Horse Shows.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Pipkin directs the University's Equine Industry Program, where he has coached students to more than 100 national or world champion or reserve champion team or individual titles. He also supervises the WTAMU equestrian team that has won more than 45 national champion or reserve champion team or individual titles. Dr. Pipkin serves as adviser for the Horsemens' Association, and he serves as an academic advisor for equine business, animal science and pre-veterinary majors.
Research and Creative Activity
Primarily involved with various equine-related research areas, Dr. Pipkin's focus is on nutrition and reproduction. He also has a serious interest in business, communication and leadership development.
