Caleb McCall
Plant, Soil, and Environmental Science
Caleb McCall, also known as the Pumpkin King, moved from his family-owned pumpkin patch to pursue a degree in plant, soil, and environmental science here at West Texas A&M University. McCall’s Farm is in Moriarty, New Mexico and holds several fall attractions like the pumpkin patch, interactive games, corn mazes, and more. In five years, Caleb anticipates being back home managing the daily operations of the farm.
Caleb chose WT for the hands-on learning the agriculture department offers. Currently, he is involved in the crops, soil, and agricultural ambassadors' team. While his father is a first-generation farmer, the Pumpkin King learns new skills in the classroom, that he transfers over to his father for the betterment of the farm, so together they walk the pumpkin seeds through life. Caleb encourages prospective students to investigate an agriculture major, because agriculture is where food, clothes, and more life essentials are created.
