West Texas A&M University serves a broad community of students in Canyon, Amarillo, the Texas Panhandle and the world with unique needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

To meet these needs, WT has received more funding to assist students as part of its WT CARES program. Funds provided by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) may be used to address financial hardship, including tuition and fees, housing and food insecurity, medical expenses, and lack of educational support and supplies, including technology.

WT students will be screened for eligibility of the HEERF grants based the number of credit hours attempted and other Department of Education criteria. Eligible students will receive a grant from WT once they complete the REQUIRED application.

Spring 2022 students with immediate needs can apply for the HEERF  grants immediately. Funds from the HEERF are not considered  estimated financial aid and will not count as estimated financial assistance (EFA) towards Cost of Attendance or the calculation of the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

HEERF grants will not require students to have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file like the CARES Act required, however it will reduce time in verifying a student's eligibility. Students must be enrolled in the semester for which you are applying.

To receive your grant funds quicker, please sign up for direct deposit (links to instructions). Grant payments by check could take up to a month to process.
