Centennial Celebration

Celebrating Our Second Century

Celebrating 100 years of excellence in education is a prestigious milestone, with each year its own unique endeavor. West Texas A&M University has now seen a century of students pass through its doors making our Centennial celebration officially under way.

The Centennial festivities actually kicked off in March 2009, when a herd of Buffs traveled to Austin to witness a momentous reading of the same resolution that had been read 99 years before making WTAMU a reality, on both the senate and house floors.

2010 is a year of celebration recognizing the tireless efforts, dedication and strength that have built our University over the last 100 years. The yearlong line-up of activities have and will undoubtedly continue to bring the Centennial spirit to every member of the WTAMU family.

From the Centennial Gala and Founders Day Celebration to the special Centennial Commencement, the year will be filled with excitement. Honoring our veteran alumni on Veteran’s Day and making 2010 our biggest Homecoming celebration to date are only a part of what is planned.

Just like our mascot the buffalo, WTAMU is a steadfast pillar of strength. As we enter this once-in-a-century occasion with uproarious pride and enthusiasm, we invite each community member, alumni and friend of our beloved University to join us in celebrating our Centennial.
