Monday
July 18, 2011 Start of the regular schedule of
the second week. 7:45 am. One week of exhaustion and the morning after
the Wonderland trip. Now let's see who's still strong enough for a 7:45
am class! You're looking at the drum major class.
And now the breathing class. If you'll go back to last Monday's picture, you'll realize that more than half of the students who started the class have stopped breathing! I'm going to try to catch the second hour sectionals for you. Mrs. DuBois and the high school honor band bass clarinets. Mrs. Cooley and the high school maroon band flutes. The high school maroon band clarinets. (I guess I missed Mr. Storey.) Mr. Manfredi and the high school concert band horns. Ms. Eiben and the high school maroon band flutes. The high school maroon oboes. (I missed Ms. Hart.) Mr. Reimund and the high school concert band tubas and euphoniums. Dr. Takacs, sunlight, and the high school concert band trumpets. (Oops! Dr. Takacs didn't make it into the picture.) The high school honor band bassoons with Dr. Carpenter. The high school honor band oboes. (Mrs. Hoyle is their teacher.) The junior high school concert band. (Mr. Pena is the teacher. I'm not doing very well getting the teachers in my pictures!) Mr. Worosello and the high school maroon band clarinets and bass clarinets. Mr. Dixon and the junior high school honor band horns. Mr. Hinojoso and the junior high school honor band trumpets. See. I'm doing better on getting the teachers in the picture. I only had to talk to myself. That's all it took. Here are the high school maroon band saxophones with Mr. Barney. Mr. Cooley and the junior honor band tubas and euphoniums. Ms. Pecht and the junior high school honor band trombones. Dr. Loudenback and the high school honor band saxophones. Rockin' out with the junior honor band. Bassoon reedmaking class. This was the game at the 3 pm junior high school assembly. For the evening meal, there was jello and cookies. Macaroni and cheese, corn, spaghetti and sauce, and garlic bread. There was pizza. Hamburgers and fries and toppings to make chili/cheese fries. You could make a turkey sandwich. There was a salad bar. Salad toppings. (I guess I didn't get the dressings.) Fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese, fruit salad, applesauce, mandarin oranges. The cold cereal and milk was still available, a was the whole fruit, and the drinks. At 7 pm the camp faculty performed for the students. Dr. Brooks, Mr. Pena, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Garcia played a piece by Dr. Brooks called Beside Elm's Brook. Ms. Eiben and Ms. Abbasova played the second movement of Liebermann's sonata. Mr. Reimund played the rondo of James Barnes' concerto. Mr. Nguyen and Mr. Barger performed two movements from Gregory Wanamaker's Duo Sonata. Mr. Manfredi, Mr. Ellis, Mrs. Casso, and Mr. Dixon chose the first movement of Robert Schumann's Concert Piece. Mr. Smith played an arrangement of the "Largo al factotum" aria from Rossini's Barber of Seville. Followed by "Der Holle Rache" from Mozart's The Magic Flute performed by Dr. Loudenback. Mr. Myers played the third movement of Patrick McCarty's sonata. The WTAMU brass quintet (Mr. Lough, Dr. Takacs, Dr. Morales, Mr. Manfredi, and Mr. Lewis) played a piece that mixed "When the Saints" and Handel's Halleljah chorus. "Little Fish" by Frank Wolf. (Dr. Loudenback, Mr. Barger, Mr. Barney, and Mr. Holmes) And the last piece was entitled "Just Friends" that featured Mr. Hinds on trumpet, Mr. Barney on alto saxophone, guest artist Mr. Sppon on trombone, Mr. Caballero on drums, Mr. Kwan on bass, and Mr. Rath on piano. The campers then went to a dance, but I'm calling it quits for tonight. |
