Biography

Russ Teweleit is the Coordinator of Music Education at West Texas A & M University in Canyon, Texas. Teweleit conducts the Concert Band, Jazz Ensembles, and assists with the Buffalo Marching Band. Additionally, he teaches Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Theory, Music Education courses, and supervises student teachers.

Mr. Teweleit joined the faculty at WTAMU in 1999. Prior to his appointment at WTAMU, Mr. Teweleit served as the Associate Director of Bands (1991-1996) and then as Director of Bands (1996-1999) at Canyon High School. During his eight years in with the Canyon Band Program, Mr. Teweleit's bands consistently received first division ratings at UIL Contests and his bands earned opportunities to compete in the Texas State Marching Contest, and 4A Area Honor Band Competition. He is active as a clinician for marching band, concert band, jazz band, and trumpet. He and his wife Tina have two children: Lindsay (10) and Matthew (8).
