than the color (faded from a 27 year old photograph), differences can
be seen in the hoodoo eroded away (gravity and water are powerful
forces), many of the Rocky Mountain junipers along the opposite face
also were washed down the hill, and there is a dramatic increase in the
amount of mesquite on the opposite upland.
These photos are taken from the Katarina Caves parking area, facing
east. Notice the changes in the vegetation, slough (colluvial
material), and shape of the small outcrop through time.
