The
Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is recruiting students to
participate
in our Student Educational Career Employment Program starting in the
summer of
2009. We plan to fill approximately 15
to 20 positions.
This program will allow
students that are selected to
receive on-the-job training while attending an accredited college or
university. Participants are expected to
work full-time during summer vacation periods each summer until
graduation to
prepare for a permanent position with our agency. Students
must work a
minimum of 640 hours prior to
graduation and must also meet the educational qualification
requirements for
the specialization for which they were hired as a student trainee,
e.g.,
Agricultural Engineer, Rangeland Management Specialist, Soil
Conservationist or
Soil Scientist. Upon
successful completion of the program, trainees can be
non-competitively converted to a professional position with the NRCS. Preferred fields of study are Agronomy,
Engineering, Forestry, Plant Science, Range Management, Soil Science,
and
Wildlife Management. Applications must
include: (1) resume (include farm or ranch
work experience even if wages were not received); (2) current college
transcript; (3) a list of courses in which currently enrolled and those
planned
for the Spring Semester of 2009; (4) a list of 2 to 4 towns where you
prefer to
work during the summer of 2009; and (5) your social security number. Be sure to include phone numbers where you
can be reached at school as well as your permanent address since we
will begin
scheduling interviews as applications are received.
We plan to complete the interview process by
January 16, 2009. We plan to notify
applicants of selection or non-selection by the end of March 2009.
Students will
be assigned to work at priority
training locations throughout the State.
