Audition / Interview Requirements
An audition or interview is required for students interested in pursuing any of the following degree programs:
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Theatre
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Theatre: EC-12 Certification
Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) Musical Theatre
Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) Theatre: Acting concentration
Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) Theatre: Design & Technology concentration
This process allows the faculty to assess a student's current skill level, as well as give scholarship consideration.
Please prepare for the following:
B.A. Theatre or B.A. Theatre: EC-12 Certification: an interview with faculty demonstrating the student's interest in the major and experience in theatre or performing arts
B.F.A. Musical Theatre: an audition for faculty comprised of 16-32 bars of a ballad from a musical, 16-32 bars of an up-tempo from a musical with movement (if possible), and a 60 second monologue of the student's choice; a brief interview will follow
B.F.A. Theatre: Acting: an audition for faculty comprised of two 60-second contrasting monologues of the student's choice (Please select age-appropriate characters and avoid accents or dialects); a brief interview will follow
B.F.A. Theatre: Design & Technology: an interview / portfolio review with faculty demonstrating the student’s interest and experience (Examples include resume, design portfolio or projects, art work or sketchbook, stage management paperwork, etc)
On-Campus Auditions
WT Theatre will offer On-Campus Audition Days in Spring 2026, please check back after September 1, 2025 for details.
Off-Campus Auditions
WT Theatre will recruit at several off-campus audition venues in Fall 2025, please check back after September 1, 2025 for details.
Web Auditions
For those students unable to attend on or off-campus auditions, WT Theatre uses the national audition platform Acceptd. Please submit an application through Acceptd (applications open September 1, 2025), prepare the previously listed audition selections for your area of interest, and record and upload your materials. WTAMU Theatre will respond to your Acceptd audition within 3-4 weeks and make arrangements for admission and/or a second audition.
