StrengthsQuest Student Intro

Students: Discover more about you.

CliftonStrengths™ for Students will help you discover your talents and develop those into strengths.

A talent is defined by Gallup as "naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling or behavior that can be productively applied."

CliftonStrengths is comprised of 34 talents centered around four areas: executing, influencing, relationship building and strategic thinking. According to Gallup, these talents make up your "talent" DNA and the odds that someone has the exact order of 34 CliftonStrengths as you are roughly 1 in 259,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

How is that for setting you apart?

By coupling these innate talents with skill and knowledge, you are able to develop strengths. A strength is "the ability to consistently provide near-perfect performance in a specific activity," according to Gallup.

Your strengths can be used to help you excel not only during your time at WT, but throughout your life and future career.

Check out just a few of the benefits of CliftonStrengths!

  • Meet lifelong friends and colleagues. Each student at WT takes the strengths assessment, so it is a great way to strike up a conversation with new people.

  • Share your story. Use the common language of CliftonStrengths™ to share your talent themes with others and learn about additional talents as they share theirs.

  • Create your own experience. By focusing on what you do well, you are able to explore new opportunities and create the best WTAMU experience possible.

  • Leverage your strengths. A strengths-focus not only allows you to build on your strengths, but it helps you learn to apply your talents in unique ways to overcome challenges and weaknesses.

Strengths on Campus

Many areas across campus use strengths, too! Each area approaches and uses strengths in their own way to help you develop and maximize your strengths. These areas also utilize strengths in leadership development, student employment opportunities and classroom experiences.

Look for a strengths-focus in these areas and others:

  • Residence hall living
  • Career counseling
  • Academic advising
  • Student organizations
