Data Information

  1. Data reflected in this chart for the NACE 2015 graduate year (August 2015, December 2015 and May 2016) while the NACE 2014 graduation year reflects (August 2014, December 2014 and May 2015). While this graduation year differs from the WTAMU academic year it must reflect the same semesters to evenly compare to the national average provided by NACE.
  2. The choice to use the overall national average instead of the regional average or the Carnegie classification average was made based upon response rate.
    1. National Response Rate – 471 institutions reported results. 168 institutions where used based upon correct reporting.
    2. Regional Response Rate – Southwest Region is the most under represented region with 8 institutions reporting.
    3. Carnegie Classification Response Rate – Master’s (large) had 37 institutions reporting.
  3. Data is collected through the following methods:
    1. Graduation Application Survey
    2. At Graduation Walk Card
    3. Career Services follow up including: phone calls, e-mails, LinkedIn profiles, faculty and staff contacts, contact from employer, Facebook and company websites
    4. Texas Workforce Commission Data Requests
    5. National Student Clearinghouse
  4. The industry tab reflects information collected  through the Texas Workforce Commission, which provides salary information as well as NAICS industry codes. The broad industry codes are displayed within the graphics. Due to restrictions within West Texas A&M University’s contract with the Texas Workforce Commission company information cannot be reported unless it is verified from another source. This is why some areas in the chart display both an industry and a salary but no employer name.
  5. The top employers tab includes both full-time and part-time employers. The data is collected through all means which causes some employers listed in this tab to not be reflected in the industry tab above. If an employer is outside the state of Texas they will not be reported in the industry tab because that data was reported through one of the other mediums with no industry code associated by the Texas Workforce Commission. Not every employer in the Top Employers section has a known salary associated with it.
  6. Student confidentiality is maintained by removing any majors which have had less than 5 graduates in a given year. This will protect the individual students from possibly being identified. Thus there are some majors not included in this chart. If you have a question about a specific major, please contact the career services office (806) 651-2345 for more information.

Salary Survey

The Salary Survey is a report that lists graduates' first destination outcomes.  The information is gathered from several sources and methodologies which includes data obtained directly from: 1) the student when they apply for graduation; 2) the student when they communicate their post-graduation plans with staff or faculty; 3) the graduate when they respond to a survey sent to them up to one year after graduation; and 4)  the Texas Workforce Commission. The time frame for gathering first destination data begins prior to a student's graduation when Career Services is made aware of a student's post-graduation plans and continues to be collected up to one year after graduation.  Disclaimer:  The data does not include first destination outcomes for all graduates.  It is representative of the population for whom outcomes were available.
