West Texas A&M

Advising

WTAMU is committed to providing academic advising and assistance to all students. With this goal, the University requires all undergraduate students to seek advising each semester through the "green lighting" process. Through this process, students are assisted with:

  • Clarifying their personal and educational goals
  • Understanding educational options, degree requirements and policies at WTAMU
  • Selecting an educational plan consistent with their abilities, interests and goals
  • Discovering resources available on campus to assist in student success and engagement

The Student Advising, Registration, and Retention (STARR) Center is the centralized source of advising for students who:

  • Have fewer than 60 hours
  • Are new to the University
  • Have not yet met a required area of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

Continuing students who have completed 60 or more hours will be advised in the department of their major.
