| | Taylor Ritcherson Assistant Area Coordinator Hometown: Andrews, Texas Education: Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science, in progress from West Texas A&M University (anticipated Dec. 2012) What I Love About WT: I love that WT has such wonderful community. The campus is filled with wonderful people and it is small enough that you are able to get to know them all. :) Why I'm Excited to be a Coordinator: I absolutely love working along side my resident assistants to provide a fun and positive atmosphere for all those who live in Shirley Hall. The amount of contact that I have with the residents and the amount of influence is exciting to me! Living on campus is such a great experience and I love being able to play a part in that. |
| | Katy Basinger Resident Assistant Unit/Hall: Shirley Units A/G Hometown: Lubbock, Texas Major: Bio-Chemistry What I Love About WT: The people (students and faculty), the campus (I love trees), the size (big enough to still feel like 'college,' but not so big that it's impossible to contact someone when I have a question), the opportunities (it was so easy for me to start my undergraduate research; not as much pressure/competition as there is at D-1 schools), and the activities (there are all kinds of fun and safe events put on by the Residence Halls, campus organizations, and the university itself). Why I Love Living On Campus: Easy access to everything on campus...just a 5-10 minute walk to everything I need, be it classes, the HELC, the Caf, or the gym. Plus, I love the community in Shirley Hall; it's something I miss most in the summer, when I can't simply walk down the hall to see if anyone wants to hang out. Why I'm Excited to be an RA: Ever since my awesome experience with my RA, I've always wanted to carry on her legacy. I love helping people, and this puts me in the perfect position to do that. I also like that I can be a major instrument in shaping the attitude of the hall. |
